Inside Passage - Alaska

Inside Passage

Southeast Alaska

A quiet dawn revealed this beautiful scene in Alaska’s Inside Passage.  The landscape possibilities abound in this spectacular part of the world.  On a calm morning such as this, you can often hear the whales expel a breath as they break the surface of the water.  Memories of these mornings will last a lifetime.

There is always a surprise waiting around the next corner in this vast country.  At times we have seen a bear foraging for food along the shoreline, sometimes its an unexpected pod of dolphins and other times a breathtaking landscape with amazing light.  I can’t wait to return.

About this image.  I struggle a little bit when I was working on this shot.  I love the simplicity of the landscape but couldn’t bring out what I was looking for in the processed image.  I loved what happened when I took the color out of it.

Embrace the journey!
